New Paltz – A small town located about an hour and a half north of NYC, most noted for being the town where gay couples were married for a brief time. I attended college there for three years, and then lived there for nine months working full time. I have a love-hate relationship with New Paltz.

Alternate New Paltz 1 – Physically resembles New Paltz, however the purposes of the buildings there is completely different than in reality. For example, what is actually a bus station was my apartment in this version of New Paltz.

Alternate New Paltz 2 – A combination of Stony Brook and New Paltz. Both friends from New Paltz and from Long Island reside there.

Alternate New Paltz 3 – A suburbanized version of New Paltz. Resembles Long Island, but still has mountains.

Brenner’s Farm – A farm down the road from my parents’ house. As a child I went there several times on field trips. It used to be a full-functioning farm with all the stereotypical animals plus horses, but I don’t know if they have the animals there anymore or what the status of the farm is. If I remember correctly, they’ve sold some of the property and built houses on it.

Alternate Brenner’s Farm 1 – The farm is still functional. One of the horse fields has a tall, chain-link fence that has never actually been there. There is also some sort of pet supply business going on, and the supplies are all unbelievably inexpensive.

The Daily Show Set – Self-explaintory.

Alternate Daily Show Set 1 – Instead of being an actual, physical set everything was projected onto a green screen a la The Soup.

Discount Clothing Store, Huntington – A fictional clothing store that often features items I have seen in real life. Everything is extremely marked down, though it is inconsistent on whether or not there are items I actually like in the store.

ESK aka Empire State Karate – The karate school I attended from age 6 to 13, then again briefly at the age of 16. Its original location was in Saint James, and is the only location that I attended.

Fancy Resturant in New Jersey – A fictional restaurant that is a favourite of my friend Tres. 1

Gelinas Junior High School – My Junior High School.

Genovese – A drug store in the style of CVS. This was the drug store I went to as a child, and I have a tendency to refer to any drug store chain as “A Genovese”. However if I specifically refer to Genovese, I’m talking about the one from my childhood in Stony Brook. I believe it has turned into a Rite Aid, but I can’t be sure. I still call it Genovese, after all.

The Hamptons – A notoriously ritzy community on the south shore of Long Island, far east. I spent a lot of time out there when I was younger since my Grandparents have a house in Montauk that they used to let us visit. I have only been there a couple of times since I was 13.

Alternate Hamptons – Usually it is a lot more desolate than the Hamptons actually are, and a lot more rustic. The only notable landmarks for the time being are a restaurant with a high ceiling and tall pillars with red peeling paint that has a white porch that is highly elevated over a very crowded beach. I associate the beach in this version of the Hamptons with feelings of panic and discomfort.

Grandparents’ Montauk House – As long as I can remember, my grandparents have owned a house in Montauk. We used to visit there a couple times a year, but I haven’t been inside the house in roughly ten years. I’ve driven past it a couple times since entering my twenties, but that’s the closest I’ve come. The way the house is layed out is it is more or less open, with all the rooms connecting to one another with the bathroom as the centre. What makes the house into a rectangle instead of a square is a large, open dining room area that leads to a sun room with sliding glass doors which in turn lead to a porch and outdoor shower. There is also a garden.

Alternate Grandparents’ Montauk House 1 – Everything is the same about the inside of the house as I can remember, however the house is distinctly circular. There are two extra beds inside my Grandparents’ bedroom, one that is roughly the size of a doll bed and one that is more of a child’s size.

Huntington – A town located half an hour away from my home town of Setauket. This is where my Grandparents live. Huntington is pretty much synonymous with the word “yuppie”.

Leonard’s House – A big house with grayish brown singles that in reality is white paneling, as well as being a small shopping plaza that hosts a bank, a reality place, and a bagel store. The house was rented, and I was very impressed by how nice it was and was given the impression Leonard was somewhat successful.

Mark Tree Road – A road in Setauket.

Minnesauke – My first elementary school, located 10 minutes away from my house walking. The playground is a huge field contained by trees, with a jungle gym sitting on top of a hill. If you are standing at the school building facing the playground, the jungle gym is on the right side, and on the left side at the bottom of the hill is a soccer field. Behind the jungle gym, also at the bottom of the hill, is a baseball field and towards the back there used to be a rickedy old swing set and some other fixture that I can’t remember. In the back left-hand corner there is another baseball diamond I believe, but this was the “bad one”. Near that corner there is also a small path that leads through to the residential neighborhood behind the school. Near the jungle gym there was a house that had three dogs that I believe were rottweilers and dobermans that used to bark insanely and try to jump the fence, and we were always afraid one day they would. Behind the “good” baseball field there was a path that lead to some sort of water pond that kids always tried to sneak off into, and it was rumored someone had died there. There was also some sort of fenced in pit with tons of trees and the playground went behind that, though you would get in trouble if you went back there.

Alternate Minnesauke 1 – Instead of a grassy field, the playground was entirely sand that stretched to the tree line. Everything else about the layout of the playground was the same, though the sky was made to appear very blue because of the sand.

Parents’ House – Located in East Setauket at the bottom of a hill. I lived here until I was kicked out at 21 in 08-07. Up until I left for college I lived in a bedroom on the second floor, then after wards in the finished basement bedroom. Often in dreams, I will still have my bedroom on the second floor which now belongs to my sister Megan.

Alternate Parents’ House 1 – Instead of being at the bottom of a hill the house was at the top with the driveway at the bottom. Everything else about the house was the same, and my bedroom was on the second floor.

Alternate Parents’ House 2 – My dad’s stereo room is in its original location in the house, however for some reason this room is Hogwarts. Everything else about the house is exactly the same as normal.

Port Jeff – A harbour town nearby to my home town.  It has many little shops, and is pleasant to walk around in on a nice day.

Price Club-like Pet Store – A fictional location with pet supplies for basically any pet imaginable, including the pets as well..

St.James – A town located about 15 minutes away from my home town.  Nearby to the karate school I attended growing up.

Setauket – My hometown where I grew up. A very rich area.

Setauket School – My second elementary school which I attended for two years because of the Theatre Arts program.

Smithaven Mall – A mall located in Lake Grove, and the mall that I went to for most of my childhood. The mall is set up like a cross with four wings. At the end of the wings is either a large department store like Macy’s and Sears, though one end has a food court aka the Calder Court.

Alternate Smithaven Mall 1 – This version of the mall is much larger and harder to navigate. There are also many stores that don’t actually exist as well as hair salons, which I’ve only really seen in malls on mainland New York. There is also an underground “arcade” that is actually somewhat of an underground city as there are apartments down there too. There is absolutely no regular lighting. The main light sources are christmas lights and paper lanterns. It is VERY dangerous down there.

Alternate Smithaven Mall 2 – The underground area does not seem to be there, though most elements of this mall are otherwise the same as Alternate 1. Notable locations in this mall included an IMAX theatre as well as a zoo display with cougars.

Stony Brook – A town next to my home town Setauket. Has many little shops, as well as some dock ponds. A historic location having to do with the Revolutionary War.

Usdan – A summer camp for the arts I attended for 7 years. Located near Huntington in the middle of the woods.

Utopia Centereach – One of two locations of one of my former jobs. I worked here from 7.07 – 08.08. I only realized how funny those numbers are as I wrote this.

Walt Whitman Mall – One of the many malls on Long Island. Located in Huntington. 1

Ward Melville High School – My High School. I graduated in 2004.
