Fish Flavoured Dreams was originally created on the blogging website Diaryland in 2001. At that time, many of EMi’s friends were using Diaryland to host their blogs, and while she had an already establish blog on LiveJournal she did not want to be left out. She decided to use her Diaryland account to record her dreams, having always enjoyed the idea of a dream diary. As the years went by, EMi found herself using the blog less and less frequently. Sometimes she would have bursts of motivation to record her dreams, but more often or not life simply got in the way.

In 2008, EMi moved in with her friends and often found herself recounting her dreams to them. Remembering how much she enjoyed sharing her dreams with others, she decided she would revive the blog in a more accessible place and begin once more to record her dreams and include the ones from her past as well.
