I was living in New Paltz.  Allen was in New Paltz too however, and was doing some sort of tv special on piercings.  I volunteered to help out and be pierced with something for the show.  The only problem being I didn’t know what to have pierced.  I could have done any of the piercings I want in my ears, but those seemed to conventional.  I was considering a medusa, but then I knew I would have to even out of the rest of my face (because the medusa is a centred piercing, it would bother me too much to have the rest of my piercings be asymetrical, so if I got a medusa I would need to snake-bite my lips, pierce the other nostril, and pierce my right eyebrow in order to be okay with it) so I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea.  I was thinking about doing my nape, but my hair is too long to do that.  Since Evan just got subdermal anchors in his hips (real life event) I was considering doing something like that, but didn’t want to make such a permanent decision on a whim.  When I asked Allen, he offered me pretty much zero help, and I was left to contemplate it on my own.  Then he came back with an idea.  He wanted to put a hoop in just below that bone at the bottom of my neck, and was very excited about the idea.  I was very nervous about it however, and started questioning him about it intensely.  I was worried about it rejecting, about it being cumbersome, and about how it would scar.  Allen took off his shirt to show me examples of how it would scar, and there were scars on his shoulders from these giant, intense piercings that I can’t even describe, as well as staples all through his back in an X.  The stables weren’t for surgical reasons, but it was clear they were holding the skin on his back together.
